The landscapes of Thomas McNickle portray a moment, place and time in a way that is outside that moment. His paintings are evocative of the experience rather than merely descriptive of it. McNickle relies on the layering of direct spontaneous brushstrokes of color to transform archetypal motifs of land, sky and water into unique personal images. In this exhibition, the artist has utilized his hallmark technique to produce large, lush oil on canvas landscapes.
The artist's work has been exhibited in over thirty museum and gallery exhibitions and can be found in numerous collections including The Butler Institute of American Art, the Hoyt Institute of Fine Art, Vero Beach Center for the Arts, and The Mint Museum of Art.
