Master artist Andrew Wyeth (b. 1917), inspired by the world of Christina and Alvaro Olson in Cushing, Maine, created a body of work of their everyday activities, domestic interiors, and utilitarian objects. The show was organized by and opened at the Cincinnati (Ohio) Art Museum.

Members of the Pirates organization will join fans at a luncheon in the Butler’s Beecher Court. The Pittsburgh Pirates Caravan will be returning to The Butler Institute of American Art for a noon luncheon on Friday, January 18, 2008.
Headlining the caravan is Pirates Manager John Russell. Players scheduled at this time on the caravan roster include pitcher Paul Maholm, as well as infielders Adam LaRoche and Steve Pearce.
Pirate broadcasters Greg Brown and Steve Blass will accompany the players, as will the Pirate Parrot.
Seating is limited; reservations are necessary. Cost of the luncheon is $15; the price includes one ticket to a Pirate home game. Call 330.743.1107, ext 122 to reserve. This annual event highlights the Butler’s sports theme collection on view in the Donnell Gallery of American sports art.

Young people and their parent or adult companion are invited to join Butler Instructors at all three locations for a tour of current exhibitions followed by the creation of an art project.
The schedule is as follows:
Butler Free Family Days are presented in conjunction with the Youngstown Public Library are on April 20 in Youngstown.
Butler Trumbull branch Free Family Days Reading and Other Art Forms, presented in conjunction with the Howland branch of the Warren Public Library are planned for Saturdays May 17 and July 19.
Butler Salem branch Free Family Days occur the same dates as the Trumbull programs, and are funded by the Salem Community Foundation.
